Nikko, a peaceful, serene, beautiful town up in the mountains north of Tokyo. Where you'll only be disturbed by the gentle sound of running water, or millions of school children on a day trip in matching yellow hats. Wonderful.Gary by a very lovely five storey pagoda - covered in glitz and guilt (and immaculate red paint). The Prayer Gate is pretty impressive too.
This is one of the holy sites - a sacred wooden bridge. You have to pay to walk over it, so the road bridge (which as you can see from the photo gives an excellent view of the holy one) is a better option. Oh, and I think it's only burnt down about 5 times since it was first built!
